There are millions of medical devices on patients and in the home.   Bidirectionally integrating and sharing these important data elements holds the promise to change the way we think about healthcare is a positive way.

My book will explore the history of medical device connectivity from the early days in anesthesia to modern standards such as IHE and FHIR.  I will ask the question “why it matters” and suggest where we go from here.
